Asbestos in building's
During the course of undertaking work to buildings constructed pre-2000; it is likely that materials containing asbestos fibres will be encountered. The below image shows typical locations where asbestos-containing materials may be found. Some of these materials are likely to be more hazardous than others.
The owner of the property, or persons acting on their behalf, have a duty to assess the risk and develop a plan to manage that risk and act on it. Failure to comply could result in prosecution by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). If you are having construction or refurbishment work done, you may need to notify the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and you may have other duties as well.
