Plan Vetting and Site Inspections

For any work done in the partnership area for which a Building Regulation Application has been made, one of our Building Control Officers will carry out all necessary inspections on site.

It is the responsibility of the person carrying out the work to contact Building Control and arrange these site inspections.

Contacting Building Control

If you telephone Building Control before 10am we aim to inspect that same day. We attempt to deal with all reasonable requests.

Types of Inspections

You are required to notify us at commencement and completion. Following a satisfactory completion inspection and receipt of relevant documentation, a Completion Certificate will be issued by the Partnership, free of charge. Please note the completion certificate is a legal document. If you require a copy there is a £42 charge. This provides proof to building societies, banks and solicitors that, as far as can be ascertained, the work complies with the Building Regulations and has been completed to the satisfaction of the Council.

Where appropriate we would also like the opportunity to inspect the:

  • Excavations
  • Oversite prior to concrete
  • Damp proof course
  • Drainage
  • Insulation
  • Roof structure
  • Beam / Steelwork Inspection
  • Occupation
